Meet the FLRC staff!
Ian Golden — shop owner
Ian has made running has a core part of his life. Competitively he notched two Pennsylvania State team titles growing up in rural PA. Two NCAA Cross Country All-American honors, a national qualifier in the Steeplechase, and Hall of Fame induction for his run at Ithaca College. Post collegiately he's run couple dozen trail ultras with 50k wins at races including Hyner and the FL50's, and up to a sub 30 hour finish at the Wasatch 100, as well as two Ironman Lake Placid finishes. His highlight is still holding the 10k record at the Danby Down and Dirty.
Outside of competition he's (co) founded three run specialty shops in upstate NY with the Finger Lakes Running Co, Confluence Running (now owned by Matthew Gawors) in Binghamton, and Run On Hudson Valley (with Ben Drew) in Croton-On-Hudson.
He's been directing events since 2008 and is Chief Newt of his company Red Newt Racing, with races ranging from an informal Donut Run, to the Gorges Ithaca Half Marathon, to the US National Championship Cayuga Trails 50. In 2015 he partnered with Mountain Peak Fitness to start the MPF / RNR racing team.
In 2017 and 2018 he ran a bit out of the box with a run for the US House of Representatives, NY23. Despite a solid run he did not win the primary.
He's currently working on a new project (hopefully live by summer 2019) which is the Trails Collective, spending time running and climbing with his two daughters, and failing to rub his wife's feet enough while she carries child v3.0 due in January of 2019.
